78th SAMA National Conference


The 78th SAMA National Conference will be hosted by SAMA Eatern Cape in East London from the 4th to the 6th November 2014.

The theme of the conference is


The Conference is directed at staff and volunteers working in all types of museums and especially those involved in research, collection management and interpretation of collections through exhibitions and educational programmes. The role of management is vital in the type of outreach we envisage in Collections making Connections.

International Museums Day 2014 - "Museum collections make connections."


In museum circles May is associated with the staging of programes and events related to INTERNATIONAL MUSEUMS DAY. The theme for 2014 was "Museum collections make connections". SAMA and ICOM-SA encouraged South African Museums to participate as usual. The response was exciting with the theme offering an insightful point of convergence for a wide range of museums.

The South African Museums Association has a proud tradition of offering South African Museums and those interested in them opportunities to participate in the development of the sector by contributing to the activities of the association.
