Message from SAMA President
This year marks a very important milestone in our country’s history as we are celebrating 20 years of democracy. Many institutions have been presenting programmes and projects around this theme and I would like to encourage members to continue showcasing and engaging the role museums and heritage institutions are playing in shaping our countries diverse and collective history and heritage especially these past 20 years. A good opportunity to do so is Heritage Day on 24 September 2014. Please provide us with feedback and photos of your museum activities throughout the year for publication on our website.
SAMA National Conference will be hosted in November by EL & Ann Bryant Museums. The conference will be held at the golf club near Nahoon Beach – and post conference tours offer a welcome but stimulating break for hard working museologists! The theme of the conference is ‘Collections make Connections’ and the first call for papers has already been circulated. The 2nd circular with registration form is now available. Remember paid-up members get a discount so make sure you pay your membership in time!
Thank you to all members for the remarkable role you are playing in your profession.
The South African Museums Association encourages relevant organisations and people interested in the museum sector to become members. To apply or to renew your membership contact the National Office or a member of a regional committee.
